Student, Chris Madders travelled with Unibus today - becoming our millionth customer. This sparked instant celebrations - and Chris was treated to vouchers to spend.
“I can’t believe it. I travel on the U3 to Charminster most days and I was shocked when I found out that I was the millionth passenger to travel with Unibus,” said Chris. “I like the service, it’s reliable and the new buses are very comfortable.”
Nikki Honer, head of communications for Unibus added:
“I was delighted to welcome our millionth Unibus customer today. Buses provide the perfect and affordable solution to reducing air pollution. By improving the service we offer here, with more comfortable seating, reliable timetables and on-board technology, like WiFi and individual USB chargers for smart devices - we are helping to make sustainable transport a far more attractive option for those who may otherwise journey across the region by car. I look forward to many more millions of customers from all walks of life travelling with us here over the coming years.”
Formed out of an exciting partnership with Bournemouth University (BU), Unibus was launched in 2016 to transport students, workers and leisure customers across specially-designed university bus routes in and around the town.
Customers can enjoy a host of benefits and enhancements to the service, including increased frequency and capacity - as well as improved access to the University seven days a week.
We recently introduced a brand new fleet of 12 UK-built low carbon emission double decker buses - the most environmentally-friendly vehicles the University has commissioned to date.
The buses feature Euro 6 engines, with some of the most advanced technology fitted to reduce emissions and improve fuel economy.
